Our Model
Our Successful Model

Being refugee-founded and managed by members from the Nakivale community ensures that Ujuzi is deeply connected to the needs and culture of the people it serves.
Over the past 3 years, we have built strong relationships with our community, gaining trust through consistent delivery of vocational training and empowerment programs.
Our Happy Ladder Club entrepreneurship program is designed to become sustainable, with members repaying a small monthly fee once they achieve success. We have successfully trained over 260 participants in essential skills like soap making, tailoring, hairdressing, and entrepreneurship. The students we mentored launched more than 50 small businesses.
However, despite this success, we have reached full capacity, with over 400 people on the waiting list due to limited facilities. With a community of 180,000 refugees (mostly women and children) demand for our programs will remain high.
By 2026, we aim to reach 400 refugees annually and in the future replicate this model in other refugee settlements across Uganda.
