Alumni Story
In December 2024, Faliala Issa proudly completed the Hairdressing Program at UJUZI. With passion and determination, he transformed his dream of becoming a hairstylist into a reality.
Today, Faliala is not only making women look and feel beautiful with her creative hair designs, but he is also an active member of a Village Saving and Loan (VSLA) group, demonstrating his commitment to both personal growth and community development.
His motivation was clear: he didn’t want his skills to fade away at home. Instead, he sought out opportunities to work and to inspire others.
“I wanted to be recognized for my hairstyling skills,” he explains. “And I knew the best way to achieve that was by practicing and serving customers every day.”
The training program gave him more than just technical skills. It offered him confidence, new friendships, and collaboration opportunities. These connections continue to bring him loyal customers who not only admire his work but return again and again for his services.
Looking ahead, Faliala dreams of training more youth in hairstyling, passing on the skills that have changed his own life. His message to new learners is simple but powerful:
“Love the work, learn, and have courage. If you practice these three things, you will have a bright and promising future.”
